Welcome to our wonderful website.

Throughout 2010 we will be developing the site further, in particular as a gateway through which you can access online activities to support your childs learning.   We hope to have a dedicated activites section up and running by Monday 25th January.   Check back on Monday and see what you think!

Our latest Ofsted report can be accessed by clicking on the link below.   We are absolutely delighted that the inspection team agree with us that Bromesberrow St. Mary's provides an outstanding curriculum for the children in our care. Ofsted Report 2009.

At present we have around 60 children at our school, split into three classes.   We also have our own nursery and after school club.   If you'd like to visit us, please contact our bursar, Mrs. Thompson, on 01531 650340.

We aim to create a happy and orderly atmosphere in our school. A great emphasis is put on politeness, respect and consideration for others and care for the environment.

We have a thriving school where every child is valued. Our Reception and KS1 children have an exciting topic based curriculum, planned and delivered by their teacher and support staff. With several staff available, the children can be taught in differentiated groups.

KS2 explore an equally exciting curriculum. In the mornings Literacy and Numeracy are taught to teaching groups that do not exceed 20.

Full advantage is taken to enliven the curriculum by way of educational visits and visitors to our school. Just visit our 'News' page for some examples of this!

We also have a well equiped Nursery which caters for children from the age of 2. There are opportunities for the children to become familiar with the school prior to entry, as well as to enjoy structured activities organised by trained and dedicated staff.

We also provide after-school care. The children receive a snack, and can enjoy a variety of activities in our school hall, or in our beautiful school grounds

Regular homework is set, giving practice in basic skills such as spelling and reading. Juniors have regular Mathematics and English homework.

The children are given a 'Talk Topic' each week which is designed to develop the children's speaking and listening skills, so leading to improved writing skills. This involves the children discussing topics at home with family and friends, as well as with their classmates.

We are fortunate to be able to provide hot meals prepared in our own kitchen to a very high standard. We encourage children to eat a balanced healthy diet while respecting individual requirements.

You will have heard in the media about the extended services agenda for schools.  We are required to work wiith local agencies and providers to bring more services to families.  In Gloucestershire the Extended Services aim to help raise achievement for children and young people by supporting schools to provide access to a core offer of services including:

 1. A varied menu of activities (including study support and play) and childcare

2. Parenting Support including information sessions, parenting and family learning

3. Early identification and support

4. Community access

As part of our extended school provision we have clustered with 7 other schools (Hartpury, Highnam, Staunton, Redmarley, Pauntley, Ashleworth and Ann Cam) and formed the Leadon Cluster.  This cluster now provides a Family Support Worker (don't be put off by the title!) in the form of Mrs Gill Clapton, a TA from Redmarley.  She is now working right across the Leadon Cluster to provide different services for families.

Please take the opportunity to make contact with Mrs Clapton and let her know what services or parenting support you would like or feel you need.  Funding from this cluster is supporting the Hartpury Holiday Club.  As part of  this initiative the holiday club is looking  into changing its name perhaps to the Leadon Cluster Holiday Club to provide the support, services and activities parents in all schools have said they need.  Remember, it is not sustainable for each small school to run their own holiday clubs but it is important for us all to work together to provide the widest opportunities for both children and parents.  We will keep you updated.
